I have a specific question about using protein powders. I am training muay thai kickboxing, and have decided to follow the Fat Burning workout suggest by ComCon as well. Will taking protein supplements mean that I am burning less fat following a workout, as there is an immediate source of fuel from the protein shake? Or is the fat burning primarily from the energy being used to rebuild muscle? Thanks.

Hi, thanks for the question.
It all depends on what you are trying to achieve (your aim) and what type of protein supplement you are using. If you are trying to put on weight & size for your Muay Thai then taking a protein supplement and eating well is paramount.
If you are constantly trying to cut weight (fat) to make your weight division for Muay Thai fights then a protein supplement may not be the best course of action. Many protein supplements contain some form of carbohydrate as an energy form. If you are trying to cut fat this carbohydrate can be detrimental to your overall goal.
I would suggest while training general MuayThai and strength then a protein supplement is fine, but if you are training to cut weight for a fight or just training to lose weight in general while increasing muscle, then alternative forms of protein such as tuna, eggs or even cottage cheese may be more beneficial than protein supplements containing carbohydrate.
I hope this helps.
