Diet Tip of the Week: Soup and Tuna

Diet Tip of the Week: Soup and Tuna

We have all been guilty at some point of skipping lunch or eating something we would usually not want to from a cafe or cafeteria through lack of choice. With all the good intentions in the world it is not always possible with our hectic lifestyles to make and prepare sandwiches the night before work.  As we all know sandwiches from a shop are often expensive and a little disappointing.

Furthermore, if you are training hard and need to get a certain amount of protein into your body, this is often severely lacking in sandwiches purchased rather than ones that we make ourselves. (Picture taken by Isriya)

So what is the answer? Well without going down the supplement route by taking numerous protein and carbohydrate drinks throughout the day, it’s simple, eat  soup and tuna.

Any relatively good supermarket can of soup, such as vegetable, chunky vegetable, chicken and vegetable, minestrone or even tomato should be taken to work  along with a regular size tin of tuna. Simply get a bowl, spoon and microwave, heat the soup, add the tuna and eat. A couple of pieces of wholemeal bread can accompany the meal for added carbohydrate.

This meal is cheap, simple, requires little preparation and is filling and healthy. A simple following of fruit such as a banana, orange and apple often make for a good finish to the lunch.

  1. Yes, this is a simple meal that we can take. Sometimes I have to skip the lunch and have to rush so this soup and tuna is the best choice. Btw, from my opinion it’s not good to practice that everyday. Take normal meal if you got time to do that.

    Great comment thanks.
Obviously it’s not good for any of us to eat the same thing everyday, a balanced diet is always best, but this meal is a great way to ensure you are eating healthy with minimal time.
