Strength and Conditioning specialist Dave Silvester has served in the Royal Marines for 23 years and has carried out numerous roles including Section Commander, Chief of Physical Training Staff and Chief Remedial Instructor, Troop Sergeant, Officer Selection Leader and Sgt Major to a multi-national training team. As Chief Remedial Instructors (RI), Silvester managed several RIs, ensured research and evidence-based protocols were implemented. As the Chief of Physical Training Staff, he managed 26 PTIs to ensure they delivered the training to the correct standard. Silvester has served in many areas of conflict around the globe, and his prolific contribution to the Marines’ physical training and close quarter combat programmes has been matched by his involvement in sport. The 39-year-old has delivered team building events to England Rugby, Great Britain Rugby League, Canada RFU, Ireland ‘A’, New Zealand Maoris and Walsall Football Club, as well as being the architect behind the physical training programme for the first successful, unsupported team polar walk from Canada to the North Pole, and being a member of the strength and conditioning team with 2007 England Rugby world cup squad.
